Swift Car Interior – Small Car, Big Vibes

So like, if you’re thinking of buying a Maruti Suzuki Swift, or maybe already have one and just curious what people say about it, let’s talk about the inside part – yeah, the interior. Because outside looks sporty and nice and all, but we all spend time inside the car right? That’s where you chill, blast music, fight with siblings, eat snacks while stuck in traffic etc

I’ve sat in like 3-4 Swifts (friends, relatives) and even drove my cousin’s Swift for a week once, so this review thing is based on that. Not a car expert okay – just a normal person with a strong opinion lol.

First Impressions – Not Fancy, But Feels Decent

You open the door of a Swift and sit inside, and first thing you’ll probly say is like, “okay this is nice… not luxury but also not cheap cheap.”

Maruti has done this clever thing where the car feels more spacious than it actually is. Especially in front. You won’t feel claustrophobic unless you’re like super tall or big built. And the black interior theme – looks sporty. Not everyone likes all-black, but I do. Hides dust and chips too (yes I eat in the car sometimes lol).

Dashboard is clean and simple. Not like cluttered with 100 buttons and stuff. Good for people who get confused easily.

Seats – Comfort or Just Okay?

The front seats are actually pretty comfy. Bucket style, so they hug you a bit when you sit. Helps during turns, you don’t slide around like in older cars. The cushioning is not soft soft but not hard either. Just right for city drives and short highway runs.

For longer trips tho, you might feel tired after 3-4 hours. Back pain wala situation can come. Maybe cause there’s no lumbar support or neck pillow kind of thing. But again, it’s not a 20 lakh car, so can’t expect all that.

Rear Seats

Back seats are okay-ish. 2 adults sit comfortable. 3 adults? Um… yeah no. Only if they’re really slim or okay with being squished. Legroom is fine unless person in front pulls the seat all the way back. Headroom is decent, even for tall guys (like my cousin who’s 6 feet something).

No rear AC vents tho . That sucks in summer. You gotta rely on the front AC blasting all the way to reach backseat. Works okay but takes time.

Dashboard & Features – Simple But Useful

Okay, so Swift doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like Kia or Hyundai, but it does have the main useful things.

  • Touchscreen infotainment: The SmartPlay Studio is there in higher variants. Works with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Bit laggy sometimes, not super smooth.

  • Steering mounted controls: You can change music, take calls, adjust volume etc. Handy.

  • Auto climate control: Comes in ZXi & above. You can set the temp and forget it.

  • Instrument cluster: Speedo and tacho are analog, with a small digital display in middle. Looks neat.

No sunroof. (sorry sunroof lovers)

Plastic quality – ehh. Bit hard. Not soft-touch materials. But it doesn’t creak or rattle (atleast not in new cars). Panel gaps are okay-ish. Some people complain after 1 year, noises start coming, but depends how rough you use it.

Storage Spaces – Where Do I Put My Stuff?

Swift is not made for people who carry their whole house in the car, but still:

  • Glove box: Normal size, nothing special

  • Door pockets: Can hold 1-liter bottles

  • Cup holders: 2 in front, near gear. That’s it. Rear seat people gotta hold their own drink

  • Center console: Small storage area

  • Boot space: 268 litres. You can fit 1 large suitcase + backpack or like 2 medium bags. Not a road trip monster, but for city life, fine.

AC & Comfort Controls

AC is powerful in front. Even in Delhi summer, I was sweating outside but inside the Swift it got cool in like 3-4 mins. But again, no rear AC vents = back seat people suffer bit. Also AC at full blast can be noisy sometimes.

Buttons are clicky and not very premium, but they work fine. Layout is easy to understand.

Music System – Will It Shake The Car?

Umm, no. But it’s decent.

Stock speakers are okay. Not bass-heavy, but clear enough. If you’re a music lover who loves bass drops and dance vibes, you’ll probly change the speakers or add subwoofer.

Bluetooth works fine. No major lag or issue. Sometimes takes 2-3 seconds to connect.

Interior Lighting & Vibes

Cabin light is bright enough. No ambient lighting or mood lighting or anything like that. Just simple white/yellow light on the roof. Gets the job done.

Some people install LED strips under dashboard for extra vibe, looks cool in night drives tbh.

Build Quality – Feels Light But Not Weak

One thing you notice – doors are light. Not like “thud” wala feeling in VW or Skoda. Some people think light doors = bad safety, but it’s not always true. Maruti made Swift lighter for fuel efficiency. But yeah, still feels less solid than some other cars.

Inside, nothing felt like it’ll fall off or break if you touch it, so that’s good.

Variants & What You Get

If you’re buying Swift, the interior features depend a lot on which variant you get.

  • LXi (base) – Super basic. No music system, no power windows in rear. Very plain.

  • VXi – Gets music system, steering controls, etc.

  • ZXi – Touchscreen, auto climate, better features

  • ZXi+ – Reverse camera, keyless entry, push start button, etc.

Go for at least VXi or ZXi if you want decent interior experience.

Modding the Interior – Worth It?

Lot of Swift owners like to do interior mods:

  • Leather seat covers

  • Touchscreen upgrades

  • LED ambient lighting

  • Armrest (because Swift doesn’t have one from factory)

  • Door scuff plates

Some of these make the car feel more premium without spending too much. But don’t go overboard, or it’ll look tacky

Conclusion – Interior is Practical, Not Fancy

So yeah. Swift’s interior is simple, functional, and kinda stylish – if you pick the right variant. It’s not trying to be luxurious or overly techy. It’s made for daily city use, weekend drives, and fuel savings. Seats are comfy, features are enough, space is okay for 4 adults. Not a 5-seater for long trips, but fine for everyday use.

If you want flashy interior, go check i20 or Altroz. But if you want reliable hatchback with sporty feel and decent inside comfort, Swift delivers.

Just maybe add a neck pillow for long drives
